Global publishing, news, music organizations sign charter for AI copyright protections

( February 7, 2025, 14:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A total of 38 international publishing organizations and representatives of rightsholders and journalists have signed the “International Charter on ‘Culture and Innovation’,” published as part of next week's Paris AI Action Summit. They call on AI model providers to respect fundamental rights, including copyright, by seeking and respecting the wishes of rightsholders. The signatories further call for full transparency on how copyrighted works are used for model training, and promote licensing and fair remuneration and sanctions for non-compliance. The charter is based on documents from the OECD, UN General assembly and G7 Hiroshima AI Process.The charter is attached....
