Proposed Clearview AI settlement lacks 'meaningful benefit,' objectors tell judge

( January 23, 2025, 20:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Objectors to a proposed settlement of privacy litigation in which Clearview AI would provide the settlement class with 23 percent of the value of its IPO asked a federal judge in Chicago to reject the settlement because it includes "no injunctive relief and no certain monetary payment." The proposed settlement "requires nationwide class members to provide defendants with an expansive release of their claims—thus requiring class members to give up something of value—but provides them with no meaningful benefit in return," objectors Robert Weissman and Rick Claypool argued in a court filing.
