UK to make creation of sexually explicit deepfakes a criminal offense

( January 7, 2025, 14:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK government has said it will bring legislation to make the creation and sharing of sexually explicit deepfake images a criminal offense. It will also legislate to criminalize the taking of images without consent, for example with a hidden camera. The offenses will be added to the Crime and Policing Bill, but no date has been given for when this will be introduced to Parliament. The government hasn't stated whether it will be made a priority offense under the Online Safety Act, which would require platforms to take proactive measures to prevent such behavior....
