The EU law might have a more profound effect at the model level, which is also the focus of international AI safety institutes. But the likes of Meta and Apple will have to be convinced that adhering to the code will be more convenient than figuring out compliance on their own.When the AI Act was first proposed early in 2021, EU officials made no secret of their aim to use the first-mover advantage to set the global benchmark for this nascent regulatory space....
