Google workers file labor complaint over 'gag order' prohibiting discussion of US antitrust trial

( October 29, 2024, 16:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Alphabet Workers Union has filed an unfair labor practice charge with the US National Labor Relations Board against Google over a "gag order" issued by the company prohibiting workers from discussing a federal Internet search monopolization trial in which the tech giant was found to have violated US antitrust laws. "This unlawful gag order is the latest in a long line of efforts to suppress worker speech," the union said in a statement. "Our employer continues to demonstrate a blatant disregard for federal labor law and our right to discuss working conditions with coworkers — up to and including the proposed remedies of federal antitrust actions that could affect many of our jobs at Google," it said. The union demanded that Google clarify rights to protected speech with respect to the ongoing antitrust trials that will affect work....
