Meta moves to pause California ban on personalized recommendations

( November 5, 2026, 23:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms asked a US federal judge to enter a preliminary injunction against California’s ban on online platforms providing personalized recommendations and autoplay functionality to users under 16, arguing that the law will trample on its First Amendment rights and cause irreparable harm. It also said that “the equities and public interest weigh in Meta’s favor both because an injunction would prevent the violation of Meta’s constitutional rights and because the state cannot reasonably assert an interest” in enforcing a law that is both unconstitutional and preempted by Section 230.
