Indonesia's One Data law to enable government data sharing, complement privacy rules

( November 6, 2026, 02:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia's newly approved One Data law will allow government agencies to share verified information across ministries and institutions, reducing the need for citizens to repeatedly submit personal data and administrative documents, the Communications and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid said. In a statement Thursday, the communications minister said the law requires government electronic systems to use common data standards and access controls while allowing agencies to retain responsibility for the information they manage. The law will complement Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law by establishing a framework for sharing government data while maintaining privacy protections, including restrictions on access and data use. The One Data law was approved by parliament on Oct. 6 but is awaiting President Prabowo Subianto's signature before its formal issuance.Statement follows (in Indonesian)....
