South Korea opens data factory to improve AI-powered humanoid robots

( November 3, 2026, 06:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT on Tuesday opened an “AI Humanoid Data Factory,” a facility where AI-powered humanoid robots are remotely operated to perform tasks while data on their movements and work are collected to help improve their intelligence. The ministry said the facility would serve as key research infrastructure for producing and accumulating large volumes of data domestically on robot tasks performed in real-world environments. It expects the facility to help reduce reliance on overseas data and lay the groundwork for self-reliance in domestic artificial-intelligence humanoid technology. The Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials, which built the facility, currently operates 12 humanoid robots and plans to gradually expand the number of robots and the range of tasks covered by data collection. The statement is attached (in Korean)....
