( October 12, 2026, 09:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Digital platforms' control over audience access, data, news distribution and monetization could strengthen their market power and create excessive dependence among news publishers, Indonesian competition commissioner Rhido Jusmadi said in a statement Monday. AI-generated answers and summaries that allow users to obtain information without visiting publishers' websites could further affect referral traffic and advertising revenue, he said. The Indonesian Competition Commission, or KPPU, called for greater transparency over the use of news content, ranking algorithms, referral data and commercial terms, alongside meaningful negotiations between platforms and publishers. The regulator will continue monitoring the sector and may take enforcement action if sufficient evidence of competition-law violations emerges, it said.Statement follows (in Indonesian)....
