Japan to survey 50,000 businesses on unfair IP practices

( October 9, 2026, 08:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's antitrust watchdog said Friday that it would survey 50,000 businesses to examine potentially unfair practices involving intellectual property rights, know-how and data, following the publication of new guidelines in June aimed at preventing abuse of superior bargaining position. The Japan Fair Trade Commission said responses to the survey are due by Nov. 5, after which it plans to conduct interviews, publish its findings and issue warnings to companies whose practices may raise competition-law concerns.Statement is attached (in Japanese)....
