UK eyes G20 push on AI risk standards, South Korean official says
By Choonsik Yoo ( October 8, 2026, 08:29 GMT | Insight) -- The 10-member global network of AI safety institutes discussed leading international efforts to develop standards for risks and harms associated with advanced artificial intelligence at an online meeting early this week, with the UK proposing to draft plans and seek members’ feedback, South Korea’s institute head Kim Myuhng-joo told MLex. Kim said participants stressed the urgency of standards to identify and respond to incidents involving agentic AI, while the UK plans to prioritize AI risk and incident standards during its G20 presidency in 2027 and sees scope for joint evaluation of frontier AI models with institutes including Singapore’s and South Korea’s.The 10-member global network of AI safety institutes is exploring a greater role in developing international standards on potential risks and actual harms associated with advanced artificial intelligence systems, MLex has learned. ...
