Australia's competition watchdog issues FAQs for merger-notification enforcement

The watchdog said it may seek voiding, divestiture or monetary penalties, considering factors including genuine uncertainty about notification obligations, reasons for failing to notify and proposed competition remedies. It has updated its FAQs on extensions to the 12-month deadline to complete approved acquisitions and tribunal review fees, and published operational data through Sept. 30.Statement follows.
