( October 8, 2026, 00:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Insurance Australia Group and the Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia have sought a review of the antitrust regulator’s September decision to oppose IAG’s bid to acquire RAC Insurance from RACI, a wholly owned subsidiary of RACWA. In separate applications filed with the Australian Competition Tribunal on Oct. 1 and Oct. 5, respectively, but published on Wednesday, IAG and RACWA argue that the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission incorrectly concluded that the acquisition would, or would be likely to, substantially lessen competition. The companies are seeking a determination allowing the deal to proceed. IAG said the acquisition forms part of a broader strategic alliance under which RACWA Holdings would continue distributing RAC-branded insurance products to members in Western Australia, and that the competition assessment should take account of this arrangement.Applications are attached....
