Japan's privacy watchdog urges stronger data safeguards after major leaks

The privacy regulator also urged companies to promptly delete personal data that is no longer needed and previewed planned updates to its security guidelines, including stronger access controls, multifactor authentication, vulnerability management and measures to detect intrusions.
