EU ends dispute with France over EDF dominance of hydroelectric power sector
( October 7, 2026, 10:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has ended a 11-year antitrust dispute with France over the dominant position of state-owned utility Électricité de France, or EDF, in the country's hydroelectric power sector. The regulator said it had closed the infringement procedure launched in 2015 after France introduced new legislation which ensured at least 40 percent of France’s hydropower capacity would be accessible to EDF’s competitors for the next 20 years. A second related infringement procedure focusing on public procurement was closed on Oct. 1, the regulator said.Press release follows....
