UK backs healthcare AI reforms, sets out new regulatory approach

( October 6, 2026, 09:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: AI-enabled medical devices will face stronger monitoring throughout their use, under reforms backed by the UK government on Tuesday. This “new approach to regulating AI in healthcare” will allow faster patient access while maintaining safety safeguards, the government said in a statement. Accepting all 44 recommendations from the National Commission into the Regulation of AI in Healthcare, the government also committed to a framework to introduce new checks before devices reach the market.
