South Korea clarifies dark-pattern compliance for online businesses
( October 6, 2026, 06:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s antitrust regulator has issued consolidated guidance to help online businesses comply with rules against dark patterns, including a recommendation to make cancellation and account-deletion options easier to find. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Tuesday the guidelines cover 13 types of manipulative online practices, setting out compliance requirements, practical examples and answers to questions about how the law applies. They combine and update earlier guidance, incorporating findings from monitoring and enforcement and adding examples of violations to help businesses assess their interface designs. The regulator recommends placing cancellation and account-deletion buttons on the first screen after login or a page accessible from it with one click, rather than in less intuitive locations such as personal-information or security settings.Statement and guidlines attached (in Korean)....
