South Korea to launch project on frontier AI model in early 2027

The government is considering pursuing the project through a special-purpose company in which it may take a stake, with the company expected to be selected between February and March 2027.South Korea will launch a new project to develop an advanced frontier artificial intelligence model early next year, separate from and shortly after the completion in February of an existing project to select developers of world-class foundation AI models, a senior Science and ICT Ministry official said....
