Japan's NTT Docomo says 16,000 customers hit by data-sharing error

( October 5, 2026, 02:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Major Japanese mobile carrier NTT Docomo said Sunday that about 16,000 customers were able to use its Rich Communication Services, or RCS, a successor to SMS that supports texts, photos and videos, without completing a consent process to provide information to Google Asia Pacific because of a system flaw between Sept. 17 and Sept. 25. Of those customers, 225 used RCS and had service-related information sent to Google. Docomo said message contents were encrypted and couldn't be accessed by Google.Statement follows (in Japanese)....
