US judge allows Virginia discovery into what NetChoice knows about social media harms
( September 23, 2026, 03:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Magistrate Judge Lindsey Vaala of the Eastern District of Virginia granted in part and denied in part the state's motion to compel the tech trade association NetChoice to produce information about how social media is addictive and harmful to teens. Vaala ordered NetChoice to produce internal documents, including studies and reports about how social media harms children under 16, but "excluded from this Topic is the substance of email communications between NetChoice and its members unless such communications were produced by NetChoice in discovery," the order says.See attached document....
