From Jan. 1, 2031, allowances above a new 800 million threshold should be canceled, twice the current level, they said in a statement. The EU governments, represented by the Council of the EU, will now negotiate the planned ETS revision with the commission, which proposed ending cancellations, and the European Parliament, which backed a 650 million threshold.Press release follows.
