Thailand competition regulator proposes changes to merger-control rules

One would redefine a “monopoly” as a single business operator with the power to independently set prices and output and annual sales revenue of at least 500 million baht ($15 million). The other would update the definition of mergers that “significantly reduce competition” to cover transactions where combined or individual sales revenue in a market reaches at least 500 million baht, without creating a monopoly or dominant player.
