Google Ireland fined €403m by Irish data watchdog after probe of data processing
( September 21, 2026, 09:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- Google Ireland was fined €403 million by Ireland’s data watchdog following a six-year probe into whether it processed users’ location data illegally. The Irish Data Protection Commission said Google was fined under the EU’s data protection rules for failing to abide by rules on the "lawfulness and fairness" of processing and retaining location data and failing to meet its transparency obligations.Full press release below:...
