( September 17, 2026, 07:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia’s Competition Commission, or KPPU, said Wednesday it will examine competition issues in the digital-media industry amid the growth of AI and global technology platforms, including potential abuse of dominance. The antitrust regulator invited the Indonesian Cyber Media Association, or AMSI, to submit data on changes in the digital-media market and challenges faced by publishers. This follows a meeting during which AMSI raised concerns about AI-generated overviews, which provide answers directly in search results and can reduce traffic to news websites, as well as mechanisms allowing publishers to opt out of having their content used for AI features. AMSI said opting out could affect their visibility in search results. KPPU said it would assess the relevant markets, companies’ positions and their conduct. Evidence indicating a possible competition-law violation could lead to enforcement action, while issues requiring regulatory changes could prompt recommendations to the government.Statement follows follows (in Indonesian)....
