Mazda, Kia, BYD improve information-sharing after Australian right-to-repair probe

( September 16, 2026, 02:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Car companies Mazda, Kia and BYD have improved access and reduced the costs for independent repairers to access their service and repair information following separate investigations by the Australian competition watchdog, the regulator said. In a statement on Wednesday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that under the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme, vehicle manufacturers must offer service and repair information to all Australian repairers on reasonable commercial terms and a fair market price. The regulator said that following a probe, Mazda Australia provided a court-enforceable undertaking committing to improve its compliance, Kia introduced a program that allows independent repairers to access its diagnostic hardware and software for A$136($96) a day and BYD introduced a daily access option for A$140.Statement follows....
