EU telecom CEOs urge changes to Digital Networks Act

( September 15, 2026, 15:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Chief executives from 17 telecom companies, including Orange, Telefónica and Deutsche Telekom, said in an open letter that the EU’s proposed Digital Networks Act should remove regulatory barriers and help unlock investment in high-speed networks. The CEOs said the proposal should provide indefinite spectrum licenses, avoid mandated copper-network shutdowns and scale back rules designed for older copper networks, while allowing new 5G and 6G services. They said the equipment removal requirements in the Cybersecurity Act would impose up to €40 billion in replacement costs for the industry.Full letter below:...
