UK's AI Security Institute to appear in parliament to discuss 'existential threat'

In a letter sent to AISI director Henry de Zoete on Tuesday, the Business, Innovation, Science and Trade Committee pointed to "an existential threat to humanity" stemming from AI risks. It also referred to Anthropic Chief Executive Dario Amodei’s proposals for industry-coordinated “pacing” of AI development. The group of lawmakers said the hearing would feed into its current inquiry into the UK’s AI industry, which will seek to make recommendations to improve AI safety.Letter attached....
