Discovery have argued that their proposed merger will increase theatrical-film output, investment in television and film production, and competition with Netflix, Disney and Amazon, rejecting claims by 12 states that the $110 billion transaction would harm competition. The companies said the deal has been approved or cleared by authorities in 68 jurisdictions and the states lack regulatory authority over the transaction, which they say is vested in the US Department of Justice.
