Irish regulator says 69% of children favor online-safety education over social-media ban
( September 10, 2026, 04:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Ireland’s media regulator Coimisiún na Meán said 69 percent of children surveyed favored online-safety education over a social-media ban, as did 49 percent of parents and caregivers. Sixty-seven percent of children said a ban wouldn’t be effective because children would find a way around it, while 43 percent of parents and caregivers agreed and 23 percent disagreed. The findings appear in the regulator’s Online Safety and Children’s Digital Lives report, based on surveys conducted as part of the EU Kids Online study.The report is attached.
