Germany’s €400m aid to Sanofi for insulin production wins EU clearance

( September 8, 2026, 09:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Germany has secured EU state aid clearance to give €400 million of support to drugmaker Sanofi, to cover the costs of a program designed to strengthen the resilience of its supply of insulin. The European Commission said the support would enable Sanofi to build a new insulin factory in Frankfurt, to produce at least 1.1 metric tons of insulin a year until the end of 2042, to stockpile ingredients, and to prioritize the European market in case of shortages.Statement follows....
