Care home broadcasts don’t need new copyright license, German court says

The care home does not need to negotiate a new license because there was no new technical measure being employed in the transmission and the listeners did not constitute a new public, it said in a ruling which echoed a judgment from the EU's highest court in April.A care home which takes external broadcasts like television and radio and transmits them to residents’ rooms and common areas like dining rooms is not breaching copyright law and does not require a new license, Germany’s highest court ruled on Thursday....
