But late-stage amendments like the elimination of a private right of action, and the withdrawal of support by some of the legislation's core backers raise questions about how effective the bill would be in achieving its original purpose.When California Assembly Majority Leader Cecilia Aguiar-Curry unveiled Assembly Bill 1776 in February, she stood alongside fellow lawmakers, labor and economic advocates and said the legislation would update state competition law "so it makes sense for today's economy."...
