Canada seeks to turn US research uncertainty into engine for patents, startups

Among them is Sameer Sonkusale, who is moving from Tufts University to McGill University in Montreal and has 56 patents and three medtech startups to his name.Canada lured four dozen leading researchers away from US schools including Harvard and MIT to bolster the country’s pipeline of future patents, startups and licensing income, as Washington slows grantmaking and tightens rules affecting research and development and immigration....
