Indonesia, Chile seek wider two-way market access under trade pact

( August 31, 2026, 08:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- Mlex Summary: Indonesia and Chile are seeking to expand two-way market access under their comprehensive economic partnership agreement, with agricultural and food products a key focus of talks in Jakarta. Indonesia is seeking greater Chilean access for processed foods, coffee, cocoa, tropical products and manufactured goods, while Chile is pushing for wider Indonesian access for fruit, beef and dairy products, Indonesia's trade ministry said Saturday. Indonesia said Chilean agricultural and animal products must meet sanitary and phytosanitary, food-safety, halal and other import requirements, while Chile committed to meeting halal standards and called for faster approvals for beef and dairy products. The countries are also considering a second review of their trade agreement in Santiago to assess implementation and identify opportunities in goods, services and investment.Statement follows (in Indonesian)....
