Poland seeks €250m fine against Meta over online scams

( August 27, 2026, 10:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Poland’s Digital Minister has asked the European Commission to fine Meta €250 million over scam advertisements on its platforms, which allegedly breach the bloc’s online rulebook. In a letter seen by MLex, but only partially published by the minister, Meta is accused of ineffectively combatting deepfakes of prominent Poles, fraud and the promotion of illegal applications, while continuing to profit from them.
