( August 27, 2026, 09:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China will strengthen governance of its intelligent connected new-energy vehicle industry during 2026-2030, including by tightening reviews of innovative designs, testing requirements and production checks, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xin Guobin said Wednesday. The move aims to protect consumers and curb irrational competition amid concerns over inadequately tested vehicle technologies, product quality and autonomous-driving safety. Authorities will also improve battery performance and automated-driving reliability and expand road-access and vehicle-road-cloud trials. Other measures include expanding rural charging networks, improving insurance policies and deepening international cooperation on standards, trade and investment.
