( August 27, 2026, 05:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT said Thursday it will make publicly available large amounts of valuable data that five competing teams collected for use in a government-initiated contest to develop proprietary foundation artificial intelligence models. Comprising 35.44 million items or 1.56 trillion tokens, the data will be made publicly available on the government’s AI development support hub website. The datasets were collected and used by the consortia led by Naver Cloud, Upstage AI, SK Telecom, NC AI and LG AI Research during the first round of the contest, which concluded early this year. The data, which includes large-scale datasets needed for AI model pretraining, multimodal data such as video and audio and red-teaming data designed to ensure safety, is sufficient to train AI models with approximately 70 billion–80 billion parameters, according to the ministry.The statement is attached (in Korean)....
