AI-generated tracks not eligible for Australia's ARIA charts, industry body says
( August 26, 2026, 01:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia’s recorded music industry body has announced that music tracks wholly generated by artificial intelligence will not be eligible for the Australian Recording Industry Association charts that rank the most-streamed songs and albums in Australia based on data from major digital music platforms. In a statement on Tuesday, the association said that recordings that use generative AI in a supporting role remain eligible. The industry body added that, to distinguish AI-generated recordings from AI-assisted ones, ARIA will apply the definitions in the labelling standard announced by the global music community, including the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry and The Grammys, on July 10. The statement said the ARIA Charts Code of Practice has been updated and the changes will take effect from the ARIA Chart dated Aug. 31 but published on Friday.Statement follows. Code is attached....
