( August 21, 2026, 09:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Indonesia plans to ratify its Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union through a presidential regulation, while the EU will submit the pact to the European Parliament for ratification after signing, Indonesia's Coordinating Economic Affairs Ministry said Friday. The English-language agreement is being finalized and is targeted for signing in October, after which the EU parliamentary ratification process will begin. Indonesia hopes IEU-CEPA can take effect in early 2027, minimizing any gap after its EU Generalized Scheme of Preferences benefits expire at the end of 2026. Once implemented, tariffs on 90.4 percent of EU tariff lines covering Indonesian products will immediately fall to zero, while another 8.37 percent will be reduced progressively.
