China, Switzerland complete free-trade agreement upgrade talks
( August 21, 2026, 08:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China and Switzerland have completed negotiations to upgrade their free trade agreement and signed a memorandum of understanding, China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Friday. Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and Swiss President Guy Parmelin announced the conclusion of the talks in Bern on Thursday after five rounds of negotiations that began in September 2024. The upgraded agreement will provide for greater two-way opening across goods, services, investment and trade rules, the ministry said. Both sides will now complete their respective domestic procedures before formally signing the upgrade protocol. The original China-Switzerland free trade agreement was signed in July 2013 and took effect in July 2014.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
