Tencent's proposed acquisition of Happibits reviewed in Australia

( August 21, 2026, 05:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A proposal by Mount Baker Investment, a special purpose vehicle wholly owned by global Internet and technology company Tencent Holdings, to acquire a portion of the share capital, on a fully diluted basis, from Happibits Inc. is being reviewed by the Australian competition watchdog. In a statement on Friday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that Happibits, through its subsidiaries, is engaged in the development, publication and operation of casual video games for mobile devices globally. Tencent has interests in the technology and entertainment sectors in China, and is involved in the development and publishing of games for various platforms, such as mobile devices, but also computers and consoles.
