Origin says 60 customers' bank-account details accessed in Australian data breach

( August 21, 2026, 04:57 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia's Origin Energy on Friday said a mass data breach in July resulted in about 60 customers having full bank account numbers accessed, around 100 having ID document numbers accessed and roughly 15,000 having government concession numbers accessed. Origin said it has contacted around 900,000 current and former customers affected by the incident and has substantially completed its review of the information accessed. The energy company said it has strengthened its systems and is working with the Australian Cyber Security Centre, the National Office of Cyber Security and the Australian Federal Police as a criminal investigation continues.Statement follows....
