Subaru Australia faces court over alleged right-to-repair breaches

( August 21, 2026, 01:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Australian watchdog has commenced legal proceedings against carmaker Subaru Australia in the Federal Court over allegations that it breached the country’s right-to-repair rules. In a statement on Friday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission alleges that between July 1, 2022 and Aug. 31, 2024, Subaru Australia did not offer to supply independent repairers the required software and other technical information in the same way as it did to Subaru Australia dealerships, in breach of the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme. The regulator added that this is the first court proceeding relating to the service and repair information sharing scheme that came into force in 2022.Statement follows.
