Meta opposes states getting testimony from former employee in US addictive design, privacy case
( August 18, 2026, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms asked a US federal judge to preclude the testimony on attorney-client privileged communications by former employee Jasson Sattizahn in a social media and child privacy case brought by 29 states. Meta said that the states' petition for the testimony confirms that they intend to question him about documents and statements by Meta's in-house counsel conveying legal advice. "Before the JCCP trial, Judge Kuhl was faced with the precise question before this court and ruled that 'Plaintiff's counsel must refrain from asking questions that will elicit testimony as to the specific attorney-client communications Sattizahn received' because '[a]dvice by counsel concerning the direction of a client's future research activities, how that research should be characterized, and whether research findings should be made public is within the protection of the attorney-client privilege,'" Meta argued.See attached file....
