China finds EU's JD.com subsidy probe involved improper extraterritorial reach

( August 19, 2026, 13:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China has determined that cross-border investigative practices targeting Chinese entities in the EU’s Foreign Subsidies Regulation probe into JD.com amount to "improper extraterritorial jurisdiction," the Ministry of Justice said in an announcement Wednesday. It said it reached the finding with the Ministry of Commerce and other government departments under China’s rules on countermeasures against foreign states’ unlawful extraterritorial jurisdiction. Organizations and individuals are prohibited with immediate effect from implementing or assisting in implementing the EU measures identified in the announcement.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
