Over half of children would bypass age checks, UK privacy watchdog study suggests

( August 19, 2026, 11:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: 52 percent of children surveyed by the Information Commissioner's Office said they would try to bypass age checks to access online services, the UK's privacy regulator said in a study published Wednesday. The research, which included a survey of more than 4,000 children and their parents, also found that 41 percent of children had tried to bypass parental monitoring tools. Children who discussed online privacy with their parents weekly were more likely to feel that privacy settings kept them safe, the regulator found. The research was published alongside the ICO's latest children's strategy update.Press release follows....
