South Korea’s HeyDealer faces antitrust complaint over treatment of used-car dealers
( August 18, 2026, 02:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korean used-car platform HeyDealer has been reported to the Korea Fair Trade Commission over allegations that it abused its bargaining position against dealers by offering inadequate compensation for inaccurately described vehicles and blocking accounts after disputes. Civic groups including People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy, said Tuesday the conduct amounted to both unfairly imposing disadvantages and a retaliatory refusal to deal, practices they argue are prohibited under South Korea’s Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act. The complaint also challenges provisions in HeyDealer’s terms that allegedly allow unilateral account termination and limit the platform’s liability for vehicle-assessment errors. The complainants said HeyDealer holds more than 40 percent of the consumer-to-dealer used-car platform market and has become a key channel for dealers seeking to acquire vehicles for resale.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
