South Korea's Ceragem fined for transferring subcontractors' technical data
( August 6, 2026, 07:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korean medical device maker Ceragem has been fined 432 million won ($303,000) by the country’s competition regulator for unlawfully obtaining and transferring subcontractors’ technical data to its Chinese entity, in violation of the Subcontracting Act. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Thursday that Ceragem required subcontractors producing molds for massage chairs and other medical devices to agree to contract clauses that transferred the ownership of mold design drawings and other technical data to the company without compensation. The regulator also found that Ceragem demanded 33 mold drawings from subcontractors without a legitimate reason and provided seven of the drawings to its Chinese affiliate without the subcontractors’ consent.
