Legal services providers get UK govt advisory sandbox for AI deployment
( August 4, 2026, 15:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Law firms and other legal services providers developing or deploying AI are being offered coordinated access to UK regulators through a new advisory sandbox aimed at clarifying how existing rules apply to issues such as client confidentiality and data protection. The UK's first cohort of the AI Growth Lab will support around 10 to 12 participants for up to nine months, with applications closing Sept. 27, the government's business department said in a statement. The free program seeks to "speed up responsible AI adoption in the legal sector" with regulatory support from the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office.
