China vows support for research institutions targeted by US sanctions

The ministry expressed dissatisfaction with and opposition to the US Department of Defense’s July 23 update to its “Section 1286” list of foreign research institutions engaged in problematic activities, saying Washington had broadened national-security concerns, imposed discriminatory barriers and politicized scientific cooperation. It urged the US to remove the Chinese institutions and provide fair, impartial and nondiscriminatory treatment.
